Depuis toujours, ce que l’on nomme « monstre » nous aide à comprendrela culture, l’époque, et les contextes historiques qui l’engendrent.Avec FRANK, abréviation de Frankenstein, Cherish Menzo s’intéresseà la façon dont le monstrueux est une incarnation métaphorique descroyances et récits qui nous terrifient autant qu’ils nous attirent.En créant du mouvement par la distorsion, les quatre interprètes,fascinant-es, livrent une performance à la croisée du rituel, del’apocalypse et du carnaval.Après JEZEBEL et DARKMATTER, FRANK clôt un triptyque consacréà l’identité noire, qui explore les multiples intersections de la diasporaafricaine de manière reconnaissable et abstraite. Les identités sontremises en question, la chair se tord jusqu’à l’explosion, l’intolérable. After JEZEBEL and DARKMATTER, Cherish Menzo brings to a closewith FRANK a trilogy dedicated to Blackness, exploring the myriadintersections of the African diaspora in ways that are both recognisableand abstract. Identities are questioned; flesh twists until it bursts,reaching the point of the unbearable.
